The author acknowledges "all the wonderful misfits and weird wonders dotting the New York City landscape," and the credit is appropriate. Whether it is musicians from Carnegie Hall, a tough "braciola" from Queens, or a party boat captain from Sheepshead Bay, each of these eleven stories is populated with characters you'll recognize immediately if you're from New York, and never forget if you're not.
There is a touch of Bukowski here (an author you might know from Californication), without the endless drinking and drugging, but with the carefully crafted quirkiness that made that poet, novelist and short story writer the toast of the Left Coast. If Charles Bukowski grew up in the Big Apple, he'd write stories like these.

Full disclosure : He is a friend but that's what made it all the more surprising that I found this book a wonderful read!
I like the variety of the short stories and the unusual themes . I believe he has a real talent.
The main thing for me is that they are well- written , short and fun to read.
